Recommendations
“ I am from the United States. There is nowhere more gracious than Betty's. Delightful food and genteel service. I recommend Betty's to all and sundry. ” Anne Wesley ~ 28 Oct 10 “ I went to Bettys on recommendation, it was everything i expected and more. Added a special touch to shopping in York , will definately be back next time I am visiting Yorkshire. Chris Slattery Adelaide SA. ” Christine Slattery ~ 7 Jul 10 “ We visit York, once sometimes twice a year for a week at a time, and always have a trip (or two) to Betty's. The food and service is fantastic - we think most people think of Bettys as being for afternoon tea, but their main meals are recommended. We cant think of a better way to while away a few hours, than in Betty's- A MUST for all visitors! ” NICKI & JEZ PROCTER ~ 7 May 10 “ Went to Bettys for breakfast with my bride to be. All I can say is brilliant. The staff well dressed and doing a fine job, the service they provide is second to none. The food was great. A fine start to anyone's day. We will be back again to enjoy a unique dining experience. ” Bryan McDonald ~ 1 May 10 “ Very good cafe, good quality food. I had toasted scones and jam and hot chocolate, that was very tasty. Personally I think you can't go to York without going to the famous Betty's tearoom. Don't be put off by the queue, The queue moves fairly quickly and it is worth it. ” Benjamin Aghadiuno ~ 16 Apr 10 “ A truly wonderful experience. No visit to York is complete without after tea in the most beautiful elegant Betty's. I look forward to it so much it remains in my memories until I visit again. ” Julie Outram ~ 14 Dec 09 “ I live in York and every time my aunty comes down for the Mulberry Hall sale I take her to Betty's as my treat. Even I like going there and I pay the (large) bill ! It's like going back in time to the 1920's / 1930's and the service is fantastic as is the food. A tip for visitors - if the main Betty's is busy try the smaller one in Stonegate. ” Mark ~ 25 Sep 09 “ My husband proposed to me in Betty's 3 years ago, as this is our absolute favourite restaurant. Food is fantastic, as is the service and the friendly staff. Anyone visiting York, Betty's is an absolute must. ” Lorraine ~ 15 Oct 08 “ Our weekends away in York are organised around visiting Bettys tearooms, we love Bettys so much we even named our dog Betty, the atmosphere is of days gone by, such elegance and we love the piano player. ” Mary ~ 26 Sep 08 “ Betty's is top quality. Everything is excellent but it is expensive. I prefer the afternoon tea and a Rascal to the evening meals. It is a York establishment and an interesting visit, especially the war time history. They are milking it though. ” goldflash650 ~ 11 Sep 08 “ Love Bettys Breakfasts. The best ever. The only downfall is your likely to queue but its worth the wait!!!! ” katie ~ 27 Aug 08 “ Try the Yorkshire Ham & Gruyere Cheese omelette Fantastic - keep you going all day. ” tjones ~ 17 Aug 08 “ Its fabulous! Takes you back to an age where life seemed more sedate and eating out was an enjoyable unhurried experience. You cannot visit York without including a visit to Bettys. If I lived in York I would be found there everyday! ” ~ 15 Nov 07 ~ 5 Stars “ Bettys is a Yorkshire (and York) institution. They're menu is eclectic and, in their own words, Swiss Yorkshire. I've never had a bad experience in dozens of visits. The only drawback is that you usually have to queue to get a table, especially on a weekend afternoon. ” ~ 10 Oct 07 ~ 5 Stars “ Fantastic food, superb service, excellent atmosphere. You must go. ” ~ 21 Sep 07 ~ 5 Stars “ A real treat, we went to the basement cafe and had coffee and cakes. The decor is really nice and the food is great too. I recommend Betty's if you are going to York. The shop on the way out is too tempting! ” ~ 8 Aug 07 ~ 5 Stars
