Melton's Restaurant Melton's York Melton's was first opened back in 1990 and has won many awards since. Located just out of the centre of York it has had a growing reputation amongst locals. The menus are varied and get updated regularly, you can be guaranteed of good dining experience. Meltons often have earlybird and student deals from 5pm-7pm and also themed evenings. Reviews To my mind one of the best restaurants in the region, J Baker’s is the only obvious rival in York. Yet often overlooked because of it’s out of the centre location. Well worth the trouble of visiting, but this is not however a something for everyone place. Our last visit was in December, and we were impressed by Pheasant with Quince, and a novel Carpaccio Beef Fillet with an intense Beef consommé alongside. This is serious food, served by enthusiastic staff. The dining room is attractive but still struggles to overcome its terraced house setting. Go for the food! Dec 07 / 5 Stars - Excellent Restaurant

This is our restaurant of choice for special family celebrations--60th and 80th birthdays, and even a wedding. The service is friendly and attentive without being intimidating and the food is excellent and seasonal, often locally sourced. They are good employees in a sometimes exploitative industry (which somehow makes the food taste even better). Good portion control--you never leave feeling overstuffed even after 3 courses. It is such good value, as we have spent entire evenings here enjoying the company of friends and family without being rushed.
