nineteen restaurant Nineteen
19 Grape Lane, York YO1 7HU Tel. 01904 636366
19 Grape Lane serves traditional English dishes using local North Yorkshire produce. Situated not far from York Minster in the old quarter of York. Grape Lane gets its name from 'Grope Lane' which was a name used in the middle ages where prostitutes conducted their business. Number 19 itself used to be a banana warehouse. A snicket/passageway or 'snickleway' as the locals call them, is next to this restaurant, which takes you through to Coffee Yard and Barley Hall before joining Stonegate. York is full of ghost stories and this snickleway is said to be haunted with ghost walks passing most nights. Opening Hours: Vote For 19 Grape Lane.
Customer Reviews Big disappointment, had to wait a long time for our food, and the service was very slow and un-welcoming. Expected better. Aug 2007 ~ 2 Stars
Really disappointed, had over an hour to wait for starter, could not get to bathroom without disturbing other people! Very bad service did not hang around for anything else. July 2007 ~ 1 Star
Perfect find in a lovely location. Great tuna and melt in your mouth duck and to the perfect end to a meal, Maltesers parfait. I had a chilled bottle of Cloudy Bay, one of my favourite wines. July 2007 ~ 5 Stars - Excellent, Recommend.
