The route follows the tow path along the canal and on the whole this is a flat walk although there are some inclines around Bingley. Some stretches of the towpath are rough and uneven underfoot and therefore we do not advise pushchairs or wheelchairs. Walkers will check in at Leeds and be transported to their start either in Skipton, for the full distance, or Bingley for the half distance to walk back towards Leeds.

This is a challenging walk for full distance walkers due to distance – a marathon distance in one day – and the flat terrain.

Entry fee for the full distance is £20 (16yrs + only), and £15 for the half distance for adult entry and £10 for under 16’s.

Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

Pavilion Playing Fields
This is a 24 mile route with a rocky and muddy terrain. There will be lots of climbing involved, up to 3000ft.

The event will start at 7am on Saturday 21st July 2012. The cut off time to ascend Inglebrough is 4:30pm due to fatigue and walkers finishing in good daylight.

There will be recovery vehicles to take retiring walkers back to the finish.

This is a serious challenge. Participants will need proper kit and some training.
