Earth, Water, Air and Fire! ~ Yorkshire Museum

Wild Wednesdays return - with children to get free entry to the Yorkshire Museum every day this summer*

Take on the elements this summer as the Wednesdays get wild once more in the Museum Gardens, York.
Earth, water, air and fire will all be looked at in the series of FREE activity days taking place every Wednesday during August 2009.

Some of the highlights include hunting for animal tracks, firing rockets into the air, building a model boat to race and even making your own fireworks.

There is also the chance to visit the Yorkshire Museum in the gardens, which is free to all children over the summer, with one paying adult.*

Amy Parkinson, Learning manager, said: "This year Wild Wednesdays is themed around the classical elements. Each week we will be delving into a different one, with hands on activities, trails, arts and crafts and demonstrations. It is the perfect way for families to spend their Wednesdays through the summer."
The events will take -place from 10am until 3.30pm.

August 5 - Earth - Uncover the animal tracks, play with clay and meet some of out furry friends and some less furry - like the snake, cockroach and those in the earthworm farm!

August 12 - Air - Create art with air, build helicopters or even design and fly your own rocket!

August 19 - Water - Make beautiful marble effects with the power of water - and build your own speed boat to fly around our own race track.

August 26 - Fire - Use charcoal to create a masterpiece, learn to shoot a medieval pistol or create your own fireworks.

* With one paying adult. No organised groups.
