These eye-catching posters celebrate the clever and catchy artwork and advertising produced by Railway companies to encourage travel to the coast during the summer months.

Tickets are now on sale for Britain's biggest rail celebration, with 9 exhilarating days of amazing activities for all ages*. Experience a grand gathering of over 30 awe-inspiring locomotives including Flying Scotsman, Coty of Truro, Tornado and many more.

Climb inside drivers' cabs and ride on trains big and small. Get up close to the fastest, strongest and newest locos, and catch rarely-seen vehicles like snow ploughs and leaf blowers.

The Olympic Flame at the National Railway Museum

See the steam locomotive, Scots Guardsman as it carries the Olympic Flame from the National Railway Museum to Thirsk as part of the Olympic Torch relay. We’re opening early for everyone to come along and wave the torch off on the next leg of its journey around Yorkshire.
The Olympic Flame should be leaving us around 8am, and we’ll be opening around 7.30am*. (*timings to be confirmed). more info
