Terms of Endearment - York Theatre Royal

24th Aug - 15 Sept 2007
York Theatre Royal is delighted to announce that it will be staging the world premiere of Terms of Endearment prior to a national tour. The play by Dan Gordon is based on the novel by Larry McMurtry and the screenplay by James L. Brooks, stars Linda Gray. Famed for her performance as Sue Ellen in Dallas, Linda stars as the feisty widow, Aurora Greenaway. Terms of Endearment explores the love hate love relationship between Aurora, devoted but often opinionated mother, and Emma, her headstrong and often pregnant daughter. As Aurora struggles to impose order on her wayward daughter’s chaotic life, she finds her own taking an unexpectedly thrilling turn: she falls deeply in love for the first time in her life. Alas Garrett, once an astronaut now a full time philanderer, seems to be as much a cad as her daughter’s husband. Only when tragedy strikes the family is he revealed as a man of honour.
Hollywood star Linda Gray won international fame and critical acclaim with her portrayal of Sue Ellen in the legendary television phenomenon Dallas. She most recently starred as Mrs Robinson in The Graduate both in the West End and on Broadway. She is joined by Suranne Jones as Emma and John Bowe as Garrett. Suranne is probably best known for her role of Karen McDonald in Coronation Street and she most recently appeared in the West End in A Few Good Men opposite Rob Lowe. John’s work includes seasons with the RSC, and numerous TV drama roles including George Marlow in the first Prime Suspect serial, and Duggie Ferguson in Coronation Street.
Tickets £9.00- £18.00, Under 25's & Students £5.00 can be purchased at the Box Office or Tel. 01904 623568
