For one week only, OSPREY LONDON has teamed up with McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet and is launching a handbag amnesty where, for every unwanted bag donated to charity, they will offer shoppers 20% off a brand new handbag from the Autumn Winter 11 collection.

From Saturday 22nd October until Sunday 30th October 2011, shoppers will be able to take unwanted new and gently used handbags to OSPREY LONDON in McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet. In return, they will receive an exclusive 20% discount on a new handbag purchase at OSPREY LONDON and their unwanted bag will be donated for resale with proceeds going to St Leonard’s Hospice.

St Leonard’s Hospice is a local York charity caring for people with life-threatening illnesses. The skilled and specially-trained medical staff at St Leonard’s Hospice offer in-patient care in a purpose-built 20 bed unit, Daycare at the Hospice for people living in their own homes and a Hospice@Home service.

Mike Thomas, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet, says, “We are honoured to be taking part in the handbag amnesty with proceeds going towards such a worthy local cause. We call all shoppers to visit the outlet during this week to contribute towards a great charity and get a brand new handbag at 20% less in the process.”

OSPREY LONDON designer Graeme Ellisdon comments, “We approached McArthurGlen’s York with our handbag amnesty and we’re delighted to have their support. Offering 20% off a new OSPREY LONDON handbag is a great initiative to encourage shoppers to upgrade their bag and their unwanted bags can then benefit someone else and help St Leonard’s.”

Janet Morley, Director of Fundraising at St Leonard’s Hospice, says, “We are delighted that McArthurGlen’s York and OSPREY LONDON have come together in this innovative handbag amnesty to help the Hospice. We very much rely on the generosity of the local community to meet our £3.4 million annual running costs, and we are very grateful that we shall be able to sell the handed-in bags in our shops to helps us raise funds. We are really looking forward to seeing a great variety of bags as a result of this promotion.”
