In the 16th Century Stonegate became famous for its book shops and printers.
At No.33 Stonegate there used to be a printers, outside at the corner of the shop is a little Devil. This guy got any blame when metal type was miss spelt when going to Press. It is said to be unlucky to look into his eyes! ©
