This statue is Emperor Constantine, made Roman Emperor in York. He was proclaimed Emperor at York by his soldiers, went on to win the rest of the Empire, declared Christianity legal, founded Constantinople as a new Christian capital to compete with pagan Rome for authority, and chaired the Council of Nicea in 325.
This movie was taken near to the South Entrance of York Minster. Over the road from here is The Minster School, founded in 627AD by Paulinus, the first Archbishop of York.
Also rotate the movie to see the Roman Column opposite.
