The River Ouse Near The Millennium Bridge

The iconic bridge was given the royal seal of approval by HRH The Duke of York on 29 May 2001.
Designed by Whitby Bird and Partners, the £4.2m bridge was inspired by the spokes of a bicycle wheel, and took over 70,000 man-hours to build. It’s estimated that about 3.1 million cyclists and 3.5 million pedestrians have used the bridge since it opened. In 2010 just over 450,000 cyclists and approximately 500,000 pedestrians crossed the bridge.
